PIQUA – Three Piqua High School students swept top honors at the Four-Way Speech Contest held at a recent Piqua Rotary Club noon meeting, according to Dr. Nancy Luce, who coordinated the event.

The contest is open annually to high school students whose speeches answer questions to things we think, say or do: “Is it the truth?” “Is it fair to all concerned?” “Will it build goodwill and better friendships?” “Will it be beneficial to all concerned?”

Top prize winners included junior Darby Bubp, daughter of Brad and Maria Bubp, first place, $350; senior Tere Hogston, daughter of Bill and Maria Hogston, second place, $250; and senior Hannah VanGorden, daughter of James and Julie VanGorden, third place, $150.

Bubp will now advance to the Rotary district competition at Wright State University on April 2.

Other Piqua High School competitors included Kadale Atkins, Jordan Booker, Julia Hsiang and Allie Popp. Kate Hemm represented Lehman Catholic High School.
