Piqua police reports highlights

PIQUA — The following are highlights from the Piqua police reports. All information is provided by Piqua police reports.

DISTURBANCE: A live-in boyfriend reported that his girlfriend “slapped him in the face” on the 400 block of N. Sunset Drive on Aug. 7 at 10:16 a.m. The male did not pursue charges and left the residence.

Police responded to a report of a verbal disturbance at the Woodgate Apartments on Covington Avenue on Aug. 7 at 7:13 p.m.

DEAD BODY: A male was found dead in a bedroom on the 300 block of Young Street on Aug. 7 at 10:50 a.m. He appeared to have died from natural causes, and his body was released to the funeral home.

THEFT: A Troy resident reported that his girlfriend’s phone was stolen approximately three weeks ago on the 200 block of E. Water Street in Piqua.

A light bar from a tow truck was reported stolen from the 1100 block of South Street on Aug. 7 at 12:34 p.m.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS HARASSMENT: A complainant claimed that her soon to be ex-husband was calling her about non-custody related issues. It was reported on Aug. 7 at 12:27 p.m. The suspect was warned for telecommunications harassment.

FRAUD: A complainant reported “that someone has gone through the post office and forwarded her mail to another address in Florida” on Aug. 7 at 1:30 p.m. That was reportedly the second time it has happened.

HIT SKIP ACCIDENT: A vehicle was struck while it was parked on the 200 block of South Street between 5 p.m. on Aug. 6 and 6 a.m. on Aug. 7. It was reportedly struck on the driver’s side of the vehicle. It is unknown who struck it or how.

ILLEGAL DUMPING: A complainant claimed that his neighbor threw a bag of feces at his vehicle on the 1700 block of New Haven Road on Aug. 7 at 4:38 p.m.

TRESPASSING: A complainant stated “two male juveniles may have damaged his flowers in his flower bed” on the 1500 block of Amesbury Court on Aug. 7 at 4:46 p.m. The complainant did not see the flowers being damaged, but he wanted the juveniles to stay off of his property.

ASSAULT: There was a report of an assault on the 600 block of Park Avenue on Aug. 7 at 7:30 p.m. A male and female were warned for trespassing.

SEX OFFENSE: A resident reported that her daughter had been sexually assaulted last December by her boyfriend. The incident was reported on Aug. 7. It is under investigation.

DRUG OFFENSE: An anonymous caller reported smelling burnt marijuana around the area of the Piqua Public Library on High Street on Aug. 7 at 8:49 p.m. The area was checked, and the odor was not located.

SUSPICIOUS: An unknown male was reportedly walking in the alley and “messing with other’s property” on the 300 block of Blaine Avenue on Aug. 7 at 9:39 p.m. The male was not located.

A resident reported that her vehicle showed signs that someone had been inside of it while it was outside of Dobo’s Delights Bake Shoppe on Main Street on Aug. 7 at 10 p.m. There were no items reported stolen.

ILLEGAL BURNING: Piqua police and fire responded to an open burn of yard waste and trash on the 1300 block of Covington Avenue on Aug. 7 at 9:48 p.m. The people present were advised about open burn laws. The fire department extinguished the fire.

BURGLARY: A resident reported that her house was broken into and items were stolen while she was reportedly in jail in Montgomery County. The burglary was reported on Aug. 7. It allegedly took place on the 600 block of Orr Street between 12 a.m. on Aug. 4 and 5 p.m. on Aug. 6.
