MIAMI COUNTY — Warren Davidson, who finished former Rep. John Boehner’s unexpired term, will return to Washington, D.C. for a full term.

At press time, Davidson had earned 69 percent of the vote, or roughly 210,974 votes.

“Thank you for the opportunity to continue to serve,” Davidson said to the voters. “People are frustrated with the status quo and they want to see some results.”

Army veteran and Miami County businessman Davidson won a special election in June for Boehner’s unfinished term, winning with more than 75 percent of the vote. He was challenged in November by Steve Fought, a Democrat from Clark County.

Davidson’s first action in Congress was to introduce the Lead by Example Act, a measure that would require all members of Congress and their staff to receive healthcare from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

“It would make sure that members of Congress get the same care that our veterans do and the goal would be to raise the care at the VA to the high levels we should expect for our veterans,” he said.

Davidson also introduced a bill to to halt an estate tax increase, which he said has picked up 60 co-sponsors.

“It would change how estates are valued and make estates pay 30-40 percent more,” he said.

Davidson will represent the six-county 8th Congressional District of 723,000 residents.
