PIQUA — Awesome Piqua has chosen an awesome way to debut the fledgling organization. On Thursday, Sept. 29, from 5-8 p.m. the group will host a food truck rally in downtown Piqua featuring five area food trucks and two downtown restaurants. The food trucks will be located in the quads by 311 Draft House and the Miami County AAA office.
The food truck rally is a public event and everyone is invited to attend.
The trucks that will participating in Piqua’s first-ever food truck rally include Tin Roof Mobile Cuisine, Susie’s Big Dipper, Coldstone Creamery, Raging Bull Wood Fired Pizza and TK’s BBQ. In addition, Mulligan’s Pub will offer smoked chicken wings and chips, and 311 Draft House will offer drink specials on their patio. The rally is being co-hosted by Mainstreet Piqua.
Awesome Piqua is a local chapter of the global Awesome Foundation and the first chapter in the state of Ohio. Awesome Piqua donates $1,000 per month, no strings attached, for an event or project that will help bring surprise and delight to our citizens and make Piqua a better community.
During the food truck rally, trustees of Awesome Piqua will be mingling with the crowd and sharing how they can apply to the organization to create an event or project in Piqua that is awesome! The funding can be awarded to individuals or organizations.
Awesome Piqua’s first $1,000 grant was awarded in August to Becky Pottorf, a fourth grade language arts teacher at Piqua Central Intermediate School. Becky’s plan to have local middle, high school and college students make fleece blankets and give them to residents of Piqua’s nursing homes during the holiday season was deemed to be pretty awesome! During the food truck rally on Sept. 29, the second recipient of an Awesome Piqua grant will be announced at 6 p.m.
