MIAMI COUNTY — On Tuesday, the Miami County Commissioners voted to accept quotes and award contracts for several improvement projects.
At their meeting, the commissioners awarded a contract for the replacement of the third Transfer Station scale to Brechtbuhler Scales Inc. at a cost of $70,895.
The Sanitary Engineering Department received one lower bid, which was much lower than the other bids submitted, but it did not meet the county’s specifications in several areas, County Engineer Paul Huelskamp explained.
That bid was $62,000, but there were requirements that were not met, he said, including a scale with a lower capacity than requested.
Brechtbuhler replaced the station’s other two scales, Huelskamp said.
In other business, the commissioners accepted a quote from M.K. Moore & Sons for the removal and disposal of exterior HVAC duct work at the Job and Family Services Building.
The company will also replace the old duct work at a total cost of $5,996.
The board also accepted a quote to repaint the first floor hallway of the Courthouse from Skinner Painting of Piqua. The cost, including labor and materials, is not to exceed $5,990.
