Aug. 18

THEFT: Resident in the 1300 block of Snodgrass Road, Piqua, reported items missing from his home.

Aug. 17

TRESPASSING: Deputies were dispatched to the bike path just north Twin Arch Reserve for an unresponsive male possibly intoxicated with shallow breathing. The officer located the male between at mile marker 15 on the bike path. He was highly intoxicated and passed out in the grass. He was transported to UVMC for medical clearance check by Troy EMS. The officers cited Mr. Bettelon with disorderly intoxication and trespassing. He was released to hospital staff while awaiting family to respond for his discharge.

FAIR INCIDENT: Deputies were dispatched to the horse barn at the fair grounds on report of a fight. Parties were separated upon arrival by fair board members and 4-H advisors. Upon further investigation we discovered that a physical fight did not occur. A verbal argument had taken place between ex-boyfriend and a male who was attempting to be the new boyfriend.

DOG BITES DOG: A deputy responded to the 100 block of N. Main Street, Casstown on a report of an animal complaint. The reporting party’s daughter was walking her dog on the sidewalk in the area of 1 Lafayette St. in Casstown and a pitbull that was at that address attacked their dog. She showed the deputy the dog and it had fresh wounds. She stated that she had already made contact with the dog’s owner Steve Sargent and she just wanted to make a report because she believed the pitbull had done this before. The deputy advised her to call the animal shelter in the morning.

The deputy then went to 1 Lafayette and spoke to Steve Sargent. He admitted that the dog was his and that it attacked the other dog. He said that it had never done that before and was a rescue dog. He admitted that the dog was not registered. The deputy advised him that he would probably get a call from the animal shelter about the incident and he stated that he understood. The dog was secured inside the house for the evening.

ASSAULT: Hunter Ross advised he was assaulted by an unknown individual. He stated the suspect hit him in the left side of his face and took off. This was witnessed by Owen Lewis, Hunter’s friend. Statements were given by both individuals.
