MIAMI COUNTY — It’s a sweet, sweet world.

Best of Show exhibitors from the Art Hall paraded their prize-winning goodies, enticing the audience to gobble up their grand-prize treats, with the highest winner receiving the goods.

Scott Pence and his son, Bryan, auctioned off the Art Hall winners on Saturday afternoon. Twenty-five percent of the sales stay in the hall and the winners pocket the rest of the proceeds.

Karen Honeyman of Troy volunteers as a judge in a variety of events at the Miami County Fair. She bid on several items including the fair’s prize winning zucchini bread and Judy Butts’ panache bars.

“I work in the Art Hall and volunteer. I know how much work it is. I used to bake and enter and I just like to help them out and help the kids and it helps the Art Hall because they get a percentage,” Honeyman said.

Shary Weldy auctioned off her prize-winning platter of candy, including her fudge and Buckeyes.

“It puts the money back in the Art Hall and it needs some work, so it’s a win-win,” Weldy said as she waited to see her sweets.

Tipp City resident Judy Butts auctioned off her Best of Show panache bars and yeast rolls. She used to make the panache bars when she was in 4-H years ago.

“They were from my 4-H cookbook back when I was a teenager,” she said. “I just love seeing everybody and enjoy participating in the Art Hall and seeing who enters what, and visiting with friends and neighbors I haven’t seen in a long time.”
