City workshop set
PIQUA — The city of Piqua Development Department is pleased to announce the date and time of a public workshop to discuss possibility of developing a Community Center Campus to serve recreation, health, wellness, education, safety, arts, entrepreneurial, innovation, and other interests in the community.
The workshop will be an interactive workshop format that will invite and encourage public participation and solicit input from all those who attend. The workshop is open to the public and anyone with an interest is invited to attend.
The public workshop will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 10, from 7-8:30 p.m. It will take place at the Municipal Government Complex, located at 201 W. Water St., in commission chambers on the second floor.

Commission to meet
PIQUA — The Piqua City Commission will meet for a worksession on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016 at 7:30 p.m.
The meeting will be held at the at the Municipal Government Complex, located at 201 W. Water St., in commission chambers on the second floor.

Tennis tourney returns
PIQUA — The Piqua Tennis Association is happy to announce the return of its annual tennis tournament with support from the city of Piqua, Piqua City Schools, Schroeder Tennis Center, Atlantis Sportswear, Tapestry Angel, Victor Kim D.D.S., and A.H. Tennis Shop. The 2016 Piqua City Open Tennis Tournament will be held over Labor Day weekend, Sept. 3-5, 2016.
The following categories will be offered to best accommodate players level: boy’s singles for ages 12, 14, 16 and 18; men’s and women’s singles and doubles with events in the open division; and 35 and over, as well as men’s 50 and over, and 62 and over. There will also be mixed doubles in the open category. The 62 and over men’s doubles will be a “Golden Buckeye Blind Draw.” Those interested in playing need not have a partner; partners will be assigned and participants will be guaranteed at least two matches.
The cost is $15.00 per person for each event entered. Ladies receive first singles entry free. The tournament will be held at the Piqua Junior High Tennis Courts, featuring newly resurfaced courts. Modern restroom facilities, air conditioned hallways, shade tents and bleachers are on site. All participants will receive a tournament t-shirt. Championship and runner-up trophies will be awarded in all categories.
