PIQUA — Local law enforcement are searching for a teen in the Troy-Piqua area believed to be a runaway.
Austin James Davis, 16, of Piqua, is believed to be with his girlfriend in Troy. According to the Piqua Police Department, Davis left his home voluntarily and has been gone for approximately three weeks.
“He was reported missing on July 12,” Deputy Chief Jason Preston of the Piqua Police Department said.
Preston explained that there have been several sightings of Davis and numerous follow-up reports since then in which someone saw Davis out in the community, but he was gone prior to officer arrival.
Davis is Caucasian, 5’6” tall, weighs approximately 133 lbs., and has a medium build. He also has brown eyes and short brown hair. He was last seen wearing dark blue pants, a dark blue t-shirt, and brown boots.
“We believe he’s in the Troy-Piqua area,” Preston said.
Anyone who is hiding Davis or contributing in some way to his disappearance may also face criminal charges in connection with his disappearance.
“There are several different things — from obstruction to interfering with custody to contributing to the delinquency of a minor — depending on the circumstances,” Preston said. “Anybody who is purposefully hiding him, they could potentially face charges, too.”
People should contact the Piqua or Troy Police Department if they know where he is or where he has been staying. People can also call 911 or the non-emergency line (937) 440-9911 if anyone has any information about Davis’ disappearance.
