BRADFORD – Bradford Public Library has planned special events to close its 2016 Summer Reading program.

The library will host an“End of Summer Olympics” for all children and students who have turned in at least their first completed reading sheet. The ages for this event will be 4-18. This event is co-sponsored by Bradford Public Library and Bradford’s Community Club! It will be held in the Y-Yard from 1-4 p.m. To effectively plan for this event, please contact the library at (937) 448-2612 to sign up your child by Saturday, Aug. 6. If there is inclement weather, it will be held in the Community Club venue. All children will receive medals. If you have not turned in your first reading sheet, you must do so before the Annual Fishing Derby.

The Annual Fishing Derby will be sponsored by Stillwater Bass Club, Miami County Park District and Bradford Public Library on Saturday, Aug. 6, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sign-ups for the Derby, which is held at Stillwater Prairie on State Route 185, will begin at 9:30 a.m. This can be a family or individual child event. If you do not have a fishing pole, one will be provided for you by the Miami County Park District. The bait is supplied by the Stillwater Bass Club. A picnic lunch will be provided for everyone by Stillwater Bass Club.

You do not have to be a member of the library’s summer reading program to come to the Fishing Derby. Prizes will be given out by the Stillwater Bass Club and if you are a member of BPL’s summer reading program, you will receive a prize from them also.
