PIQUA — Frederick Graff, possibly Ohio’s best-known watercolorist, has chosen to participate in this year’s Piqua Arts Council’s 4 by 6 Fundraiser. The fundraiser, which takes place on the PAC’s Facebook page, offers an opportunity to start an art collection with some of the best artists in the region and beyond. The pieces are all donated by the artists and proceeds support the programming of the PAC.
“We believe this is an excellent program for a couple of reasons,” said PAC Executive Director, Jordan Knepper. “First, it’s a great way for us to promote our artists. They get exposure thought our social media and at the Gala Awards Reception for the Annual Piqua Fine Art Exhibition and we’re creating an opportunity for people to purchase what could possibly be their first original work of art.”
Knepper noted that Graff’s participation was extremely noteworthy. “Fred is a signature member of all three of the top national watercolor societies, The American Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society and Transparent Watercolor Society of America.
“He’s earned special recognition from all three societies and that’s quite an accomplishment. In addition, he’s a founding member of the Ohio Watercolor Society that the Piqua Public Library hosts each May. Just becoming a signature member requires dedication and talent, but he’s also been published internationally and won awards across the globe.”
