Comedy, Christmas coming to library

Staff reports

BRADFORD — Bradford Public Library will offer a free program featuring comedy juggler and ventriloquist Mike Hemmelgarn at noon Thursday.

Hemmelgarn’s shows are high-energy with lots of audience participation. The performer, who hails from Springfield, has been fascinated with ventriloquism since the age of 8 and juggling since he was 16.

This program will be held at the Y-Yard Park in Bradford if the crowd is large enough. Otherwise, it will be held in the library.

The library also will host a “Christmas in July” woodcarving workshop with Darke County artist Butch Clark from 6:30-9 p.m. July 26-27. Clark’s specialty is songbirds. His attention to detail has earned him a great deal of respect in his field, including national recognition and winning numerous awards.

Students will have a choice of one of three projects; a two-dimensional or three-dimensional Santa ornament or a Comfort Bird. There is no cost for the workshop; class size is limited to 12 students, so sign up early.

Bradford Public Library is located at 138 E. Main St., Bradford. For questions or more information, call (937) 448-2612.
