Students receive degrees

OXFORD — Miami University awarded 3,889 degrees to students during spring commencement exercises Saturday, May 14, in Yager Stadium.

Local students who received degrees include;

Tipp resident to study in India

OXFORD — Tipp City resident Elizabeth Haynes Poronsky, a master’s student in the Global Field Program from Miami University’s Project Dragonfly, will travel to India in July 2016. Haynes Poronsky will study the ecological, cultural and spiritual landscapes of the Western Ghats, where the fates of people, wildlife and deities meet in sacred groves and forest temples.

Haynes Poronsky is creative director at Forces for Nature.

Students named to dean’s lists

• IOWA CITY, Iowa — Lauren Subler, a native of Tipp City, has been named to the University of Iowa’s dean’s list for the 2016 spring semester.
