Rummage sale

PIQUA — The annual rummage sale, sponsored by the Mission Committee at St. Boniface and St. Mary Parishes, will be held on July 9 and 10 in the Caserta Center, 218 S. Downing, Piqua. Sale hours are Saturday, 9 a.m to 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, 7:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Proceeds from the rummage sale benefit the parishes’ missionaries in Chile and Guatemala and their twinning project in Dominica. A variety of household items, toys, holiday decorations, etc. will be for sale. There will be home-baked goods, a food-stand, a purse/scarf/jewelry boutique, and complimentary religious items.

Donations are still being accepted. Anyone wishing to make a donation may drop sale items off at the St. Boniface Parish garage (310 S. Downing) Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or call Don Stonerock, 773-2400, to arrange pick-up.

Block Party

PIQUA — The Christian Life Center (CLC), located at 8654 County Road 25-A in Piqua, will be holding a block party on Saturday, July 9, from 3-9 p.m.

There will be free concerts feature J-Nibb and more. There will also be bounce houses, a monster truck, free games, prize drawings, a family movie, a health fair with health screenings by Wilson Health, and food and merchant vendors.

Other upcoming events at CLC, located at located at 8654 County Road 25-A, include:

• Student Life Field Day on July 12 at 7 p.m. for grades 5 through twelve

• Vacation Bible School on Aug. 10, 17, and 24 at 7 p.m. for pre-K through fourth grade

• Back to School Bash on Aug. 24 at 7 p.m.

• Family Movie Night on Sept. 17 at 7 p.m.

• Trunk or Treat on Oct. 26 at 7 p.m.

Light Up the Park

FLETCHER — Fletcher United Methodist Church invites you to come and join us for free food, fun, and fellowship in the Fletcher Village park on Sunday, July 17, from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Our monthly “Light Up the Park” event includes our annual Ice Cream Social with an extra special surprise for all…the Berachah Valley singers! Bring your lawn chairs and be ready for some foot-stomping bluegrass, country, folk and gospel music from these talented musicians who hail from Franklin.

“Berachah Valley brings to their performances a true spirit of fun and tradition along with inspiration that reaches out beyond the music. We love having them on the World’s Original Wheeling Jamboree USA!” said D. Heath, executive director of Wheeling Jamboree, Inc.

In the event of rain, this event will be held at the church.

Bluegrass Festival of Bands fundraiser

TIPP CITY – This night of great music will be held at Crossroads Christian Fellowship, located at 18 East Broadway Ave. in Tipp City, on Saturday, July 16, from 6-10 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Tickets are on sale now at http://ccdonate.com for $7.00 or you can purchase your tickets at the event. This event was originally created to support the Crossroads Praise Team, but due to the devastating fire the Tipp City community suffered, Crossroads has decided to share the proceeds with the local businesses and families that have been affected.

Involved in this fire were two apartments that were a total loss located above Browse Awhile Books, all tenants did escape with the exception of a beloved family pet. Browse Awhile Books along with its neighbor, Merchant31 clothing store, suffered major fire damage as well.

Live Bands & Soloists that will be performing include: The Polk Berry Pickers, The Grace Brothers, Crossroads, Colin Richards, and Ian Liverani. With special guests World Class Violinist and Fiddler John Kelly and Heather Dorsten. ConneXions Café will be serving brats, pulled pork sandwiches, green beans, potatoes, ham, and homemade pies. 5K Health Walk and Concert in the Park

PIQUA — Transformed Life Church will offer a 5K Health Walk and Concert in the Park on July 23 at Fountain Park, Piqua.

Registration will begin at 9 a.m., followed by opening ceremonies at 10:15 a.m. The 5K will begin at 10:15 a.m., followed by the concert.

Free school physicals, health screenings, a healthy lunch and more will be offered during the event.

Piqua Parishes (St. Boniface & St. Mary) Vacation Bible School

PIQUA — Make plans now for Vacation Bible School (VBS). St. Boniface/St. Mary Parishes invite area children, who will be in first – fifth grades this fall, to participate in “Cave Quest VBS” on Monday, July 18, through Friday, July 22, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Caserta Activity Center, 218 South Downing, Piqua.

At Cave Quest, children will explore what it means to follow Jesus, the light of the world. They will take part in memorable Bible adventures/learning activities, sing catchy songs, and play teamwork building games. Also, the children will collect Bible Memory Buddies to remind them of Jesus’ love, test out Sciency-Fun Gizmos they’ll take home and play with all summer long, and make and dig into yummy treats. Plus, the children will learn to look for evidence of God all around them through “God Sightings” and will join in a mission effort to serve the children on the island of Dominic. Each day concludes with a Cave Quest Closing that gets everyone involved in living what they’ve learned. Family members and friends are encouraged to join in daily for this special time at noon.
