COVINGTON — Covington High School congratulates Jenna Hagan for being selected by the Covington American Legion Auxiliary to attend the annual Buckeye Girls State Delegate Conference held at the University of Mount Union from June 12-18.

Hagan, a senior at Covington High School, is the daughter of Tara and Mark Hagan. While she attended the conference, she ran for the State Board of Education and was appointed as a city historian, compiling a book which documented her assigned city’s essential data and members’ positions. Overall, Hagan came away from the experience with an appreciation for the importance of voting and a better understanding of the challenges in attaining government positions.

At Covington High School, Hagan is a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, Art Club, and Spanish Club. She has also played volleyball and has acted as a wrestling statistician. Further, she has served her community through the Ohio Reads program, her high school peer tutor program, the Food for Children program, and the Miami County Animal Shelter. Hagan also attended the Hugh O’ Brian Youth Leadership conference last summer.

Covington American Legion Auxiliary was proud to sponsor Hagan for the 2016 Buckeye Girls State Conference. She did an excellent job representing the community of Covington as she learned first-hand some of the responsibilities, rewards, and challenges of serving the government and becoming a great leader in one’s community.
