PIQUA — The Cleveland Cavaliers were not the only ones who won big last week. Local printing company Atlantis Sportswear in Piqua has printed over 75,000 commemorative t-shirts for the team’s championship win since the game, and they have 50,000 more shirts in the works to be printed this week.

“The demand has been sky high,” Scott Reardon, owner of Atlantis Sportswear, said.

The shirts printed in Piqua are being featured and sold on www.fanatics.com and the NBA store at store.nba.com. The shirts are also being sold at Dick’s Sporting Goods.

In fact, Atlantis Sportswear printed 12,000 shirts for Dick’s Sporting Goods the Friday before the game even happened and before anybody knew who would win. The shirts were the official locker room edition, bearing the same design as the shirts the players wore in the locker room after the game.

“They took a gamble, but it paid off for them,” Reardon said.

Reardon explained that Dick’s Sporting Goods wanted the shirts in the store immediately after the game was over. He added that the Dick’s Sporting Goods in Westlake sold out of their Cleveland Cavaliers championship t-shirts at around 3:30 a.m. the morning after the win.

“Then we went into production right after the game,” Reardon said.

Atlantis Sportswear has gotten other big orders when it comes to sports wins. When the Pittsburgh Penguins won the NHL Stanley Cup final, Atlantis Sportswear printed 40,000 commemorative shirts.

“Our business is pretty much tied to sports, college and pro,” Reardon said.

Reardon explained that sports can help the local economy as the closest printer is at a big advantage when a team wins. The sellers want the product as fast as possible while the demand is still high.

The most popular of the shirts is still the locker room edition.

“That’s the hottest selling shirt as far as demand,” Reardon said.

Atlantis Sportswear is also printing NBA finals champions shirts and a “Land of Champions” shirt design featuring the state of Ohio, the Cleveland Cavaliers logo, and an NBA trophy.

As for whether or not they were rooting for the Cavaliers themselves, Reardon said, “We were all pulling for them, that’s for sure.”
