TROY — The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center will hold a lottery registration for Summer Art Day Camps from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 17 at the Hayner Center, 301 W. Main St., Troy.
This year’s theme is “Art Lab.” Campers will work alongside art instructors, Carol Bellas and Dawn Flory, creating pieces of art. Family and friends are invited to the day camper’s art exhibit reception on the Thursday evening at the end of each camp. A total of 96 students for all three weeks can be accommodated.
There will be three day camp sessions, held from Monday through Thursday on the weeks of July 11, July 14, July 18, July 21, July 25 and July 28, for children in two age groups, 6-8 and 9-12. The fee, which includes instruction and all materials is $85 per student for Troy School District residents and Friends of Hayner members. For all other out-of-district residents the fee is $100 per child.
The registration of children for the 2016 summer art day camps will be determined through a lottery-style registration to ensure the process is completely fair and equally accessible for every potential participant. On May 17, participants will complete a lottery form (one per family, sorry, friends cannot be drawn together) and should be prepared to make payment if their registration is drawn. Registration with payment is required to secure a child’s place in camp. The drawing will begin promptly at 7 p.m. Lottery forms will not be added to the barrel after the drawing has begun. Partial financial assistance is available. After registration day, telephone, mail, walk-in and website reservations will be taken if spaces are still available.
