MIAMI COUNTY — A couple of county residents are starting off their participation in the Miami County Fair at an early age, including Haley Matheny, 3, of Bradford.

Haley, the daughter of Amanda and Kyle Matheny, won Best of Show this week for her decorated vegetable face in the Horticulture Hall.

“It’s exciting. She had fun doing it,” Haley’s mother, Amanda Matheny, said.

It was a project that Haley picked, and it was also an activity that they could do together, her mother noted.

“It was a family project,” Amanda Matheny said.

This was also Haley’s first year submitting an entry in the Miami County Fair, and it is looking like she will continue to participate next year.

“She had fun, so I’m sure she will do it again,” Amanda Matheny said.
