From 1968-1991, they were missionaries in Kenya, East Africa. Their first two children were born in Kenya, Deborah and Richard Jr. Their daughter Rebecca was born while they were home on furlough.

The couple has been ministers, associate pastors and missionaries throughout their 50 years of marriage. They have now retired to the family farm in Bradford.

At the present time, Richard, an Assembly of God minister, is the interim pastor of the Troy Assembly of God Church.

Their children are active in ministry as well, and two grandsons hope to follow into the ministry as well.
