• BLOOD DRIVE: Piqua Baptist Church will help boost the blood supply during what has been a challenging flu season by hosting a community blood drive from 2:30-6:30 p.m. in the Christian Education Wing, 1402 West High St. Everyone who registers to donate will receive the Community Blood Center “Kiss Me — I Donate Blood” St. Patrick’s Day T-shirt. • MY BOOK AND ME: My Book and Me is a program where kids from kindergarten and up get to create their own books with illustrations. The program will take place every Thursday night in March at 6:30 p.m. at the Milton-Union Public Library. Each week a new theme and writing prompt will be presented. At the end of the month each student’s five short stories will be compiled, bound together in a book, and put on display to share with the community in April.

• QUARTER AUCTION: Purrs in Piqua, who spay and neuter street cats in Piqua, will offer a quarter auction at the American Legion, 301 W. Water St., Piqua. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the auction begins at 7 p.m. Food and drink will be available for purchase.

• DR. SUESS: On Dr. Seuss’s birthday and Read Across America Day, Piqua Public Library staffers will be reading their favorite Seuss books aloud in the lobby. Readings begin at 3 p.m. and continue throughout the day, on the hour.

• STORY TIME: Every Thursday morning in March, the Children’s Department story time of the Piqua Public Library, for children 5 and younger, will have a Seuss-theme. Story time is held at 10:30 a.m., with children divided into infant to 36 months and 3-5 years age groups.

• BOE MEETING: The Bradford Exempted Village School District Board of Education will meet in executive session at 6:30 p.m. in the Board of Education Office for the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion or compensation of an employee or official, or the investigation of charges or complaints against an employee, official, licensee or student requests a public hearing.

• CHICKEN FRY: The Pleasant Hill VFW Post 6557, 7578 W. Fenner Road, Ludlow Falls, will offer a three-piece chicken dinner with french fries and macaroni salad for $7 from 6-7:30 p.m. Chicken livers are also available.

• FISH AND SHRIMP: Fish and shrimp will be offered at 6 p.m. at the Troy Fish & Game.

• MOVIE NIGHT: Take a trip to “Toontown” at 7:30 p.m. at the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center, 301 W. Main St., Troy, will present the 1988 animated film, “Who Framed Roger Rabbit.” This free and open to the public showing includes an introduction to the film, café style seating, popcorn and soft drinks. • FISH FRY: St. Mary Parish will offer a Lenten fish fry from 5-7 p.m. in the cafeteria of Piqua Catholic School, 503 W. North St. The meal consists of all the fish (deep fried or baked) you can eat along with french fries or macaroni and cheese, coleslaw or applesauce, roll and coffee. Soft drinks and desserts are available for an additional charge. Carry-outs are also available. Special pricing is available for seniors and those 12 and under.

Meals will include spaghetti, salad bar, bread, dessert and drinks for $7.75 for adults and $4.50 for children 13 and younger.

• WII PARTY: Compete in fun games on the big screen at the Milton-Union Public Library Saturday from 1-3 p.m. This event is open to all ages. The library also has board games, Minecraft and snacks.

• SHARE-A-MEAL: First United Church of Christ’s Share-A-Meal will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 120 S. Market St., Troy. The menu will include chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, vegetable, dessert and a beverage. Carry-outs we be offered at 12:30 p.m., as quantities last. This program is one of our ways of reaching out to the community by providing warm nourishing meals to anyone wishing to participate, while giving an opportunity to socialize with others. Use the Canal Street entrance where the church is handicapped accessible.

• CHILI COOK-FF: A chili cook-off and silent auction by the Tipp-Monroe Optimist Club begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Zion Lutheran Church at Third and Walnut streets, Tipp City. The $5 admission entitles includes tasting all the of the chili, a vote for your favorite and to bid on the many items in the silent auction. Awards will be given to the top three chilis. Proceeds help the Optimists support the youth programs in Tipp and Monroe Township.

• 4-H KICK-OFF: The Miami County 4-H Kick-Off event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Miami Valley Centre Mall, Piqua. Youth, ages 5-18, can participate in 4-H and may choose from more than 200 projects. There will be opportunities to speak with current members and volunteer leaders and learn about 4-H camp, trips, the fair and 4-H clubs. Youth will be able to visit animals, and create “make and take” craft projects.

A BNC naturalist will provide a an engaging introduction to the natural history of these beautiful woodland creatures, then Lisa Bauer of the Mayflower Arts Center will guide you as you paint. This opportunity is $35 per person, ages 13 to adult, and includes refreshments and all materials. Registration and payment due by March 4 (cash or check only). These hikes are a great opportunity to get out in nature and learn together. Walks last about two hours and are not strenuous or fast-paced. Due to weather, trails may be wet. Wear appropriate shoes. Master artist and instructor Guillermo Orlando Piedra Labañino leads this group of talented artists in promoting Baracoan culture in the communities surrounding Baracoa. The exhibit will be open through April 30.
