PIQUA — Summer is not the only season for playing outside. Active Piqua and Mainstreet Piqua will be bringing back a fall edition of Active Piqua Cyclovia, coming Sept. 26 from 4-8 p.m.
“The fall version will be held on either side of the bike path between Main and Roosevelt,” Lorna Swisher, director of Mainstreet Piqua, said. “It’s still all about active living and getting people moving.”
The first Cyclovia was held in Piqua just recently at the end of May, piggy-backing off of the 2015 Miami Valley Cycling that was held at the Fort Piqua Plaza. It presented an open streets concept with the focus being family fun and healthy living.
Even though the first Cyclovia was cut short due to weather, Swisher said that the hundreds of attendees still enjoyed themselves.
“Everybody had such a great time,” Swisher said. “It really went well.”
The previous Cyclovia featured bicycle and pedestrian safety training presentations, helmet fitting station, ‘pop-up’ interactive street games, zumba, yoga and tumbling demonstrations, and a small exhibit area.
The fall edition of Cyclovia is still in the planning stages, but Active Piqua and Mainstreet Piqua are seeking vendors looking to participate in this event. They are looking for local crafters, artists, and home-based businesses, such as people who sell Advocare, health products, or exercise equipment.
The cost is $10 to register to be a vendor, and the vendor will be reimbursed the registration fee when the vendor sets up at the day of the event. Email Mainstreet Piqua at [email protected] for a registration form.
