PIQUA - A sporting clays shooting event will be held August 9 to raise money for an area Wounded Warrior from Fort Loramie.
The event, sponsored by the Hemloch Sporting Association will be held at the group’s range, located on the property of the late Judge Michael Hemm.
Hemm was an avid sportsman and had begun planning this fundraiser event prior to his unexpected death earlier this summer. Event organizer Jim Apple said, ” Mike was always a good leader, a good sportsman and a good conservationist.”
“He was planning (the sporting clays fundraiser) before he went to Africa. He would want this to happen,” said Apple.
The event is open to the public and shooters can sign up the day of the event or in advance. There will be five to six shooters per flight.
The cost is $20 per shooter. The cost does not include shotgun or ammo. Hearing and eye protection will be available.
Apple said that $13 dollars of the entry fee will go directly to assist the local Wounded Warrior and $7 will go toward prize money.
The event will pay three places in each of three classes.
Entrants and spectators are requested to park at the OrrMont Estate at 1612 South Main Street. Golf cart shuttles will provide transportation to the Hemlock Clubhouse.
The sporting clays event will consist of shooting at 50 targets from eight stations.
Sign-in time is 8:30 a.m. with the first group of shooters starting at 9 a.m.
