COVINGTON — A two-vehicle, head-on crash on U.S. Route 36 between Covington and Bradford, claimed the life of a Covington woman, sent her husband to Miami Valley Hospital aboard CareFlight and a third victim to Upper Valley Medical Center.
Sgt. Chris Bobb of the Miami County Sheriff’s office said that a car driven by Dillon H. Blinn, 18, of Greenville was westbound on U.S. 36 between Greenville Falls-Clayton and Croft Mill roads, around 1 p.m when it drifted left of center into oncoming traffic and struck an eastbound vehicle, operated by Maurice L. Adams, 88, of Covington, head-on.
Pronounced dead at the scene, was Adams’ wife, Esther M. Adams, 86, also of Covington. Maurice Adams was flown aboard CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment. According to a Miami Valley Hospital spokesperson, he was in critical condition in the intensive care unit late Tuesday afternoon.
Blinn was transported to Upper Valley Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
A crash reconstruction team from the Miami County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash. .
Bobb said that the case will be sent before a Grand Jury who will determine any charges in the crash.
