PDC Sports Editor earns OHSAA award

Piqua Daily Call Sports Editor Rob Kiser recieves the 2014 Southwest District/OHSAA Media Award from board member Bob Huelsman during a halftime ceremony at The Cintas Center, Xavier University on Saturday.

The SWDAB board recognized Kiser’s accomplishments with the following, “The second honoree is Mr. Rob Kiser. Rob is the Sports Editor and Sports Writer for the Piqua Daily Call. He has held this position for the past twenty years. He graduated from Covington High School and went on to graduate from Wright State University. His career started with five years of sports writing with the Greenville Daily Advocate. In 1994 he moved to his present position. His responsibilities now include covering area teams in Darke, Miami, and Shelby Counties. He has covered high school sports since 1988 and his writing has earned him numerous awards: Ohio Sports Writer and AP Awards, twice honored with the Ohio Sports Writer of the Year Award, and recently inducted into the Covington High School Hall of Fame for his coverage of local high school teams. Mr. Kiser is truly an advocate for high school athletes and their coaches.”

Also honored at the ceremony was Mark Slaughter, sports videographer, producer and reporter for WCPO-Channel 9, in Cincinnati.
